The Story Of Meng And Grim: A D&D-Themed Story

In the forgotten realms, a land that stretched as far as the material plane allowed it, there emerged 2 heroes driven by a lust for glory and peace. The first of these 2 heroes was Grim, a towering human barbarian as tall as his tribe’s totem poles. He gained the name of a barbarian one night. he was fighting a bear, grappling with it with no weapon. But the bear’s claws and fangs did not harm him, for he was in a battle rage, the fiercest a barbarian could be . After taking five deep slashes to the face, he suddenly sprang away, giving the bear a chance to escape. The bear took it.

The second of these 2 heroes was Meng Mei the human rogue. Slippery, sly, slick, and happy, Meng was a hero’s rogue. He could turn any conversation the way he wanted, and he could convince you of anything, but all without lying. Despite what you’re thinking, he only worked in the service of good and to make life better for those around him. Oh, and he could pick locks.

The story begins with a town. The town was named Bryn Shander. Meng and Grim lived in this town. Grim liked it because it was the home of the most famous blacksmith in the land, who forged mighty swords with ease. Meng liked it because it had a liars’ club, which met on the third Wednesday of every month, and it has never done that. one night, as everyone was asleep, Grim and Meng couldn’t sleep. There were dragons screaming outside, keeping them awake. Grim, who was nearest to the window, almost leaped off of the material plane. 10 riders on horseback were galloping toward the town swinging swords ⚔️. Grim told Meng, who said, “but how many of them are there? I’m awfully tired.” “Ten,” Grim said. Meng sat bolt upright. “Ten??” He said. “Do you want your liars’ club to be burned to the ground?” Said Grim. Meng sighed. “Well, not tonight! Tomorrow’s the third Wednesday of the month!” “Then let’s skedadleth out there!” Said Grim. they then Skedaddlethed. They knew that to confront the riders, they would need their axe beaks. They snuck in, grabbed them, and charged into battle. Meng got knocked unconscious immediately, flat on his back in the snow with an apple on the end of his rapier 🙄. Grim flew into a rage, cutting down his enemies with his mighty greataxe🪓, ignoring the many cuts and scratches on his body. But alas, in the final moments of the battle, Grim got knocked off his axe beak with a blow from a morning star. the rider closed in. He drew his sword and raised it, but before he could bring it down, he was tackled by something small, fast, and sneaky that was wielding a rapier–Meng Mei! Meng slashed upward, slashing the rider with his sword, and, at the same time, bludgeoning the rider with the apple 🍎. Grim regained consciousness, grabbed his greataxe, and slashed at the rider. Suddenly he had an idea! He called on his totemic spirit, - the mighty bear 🐻 - grabbed all the riders, and threw them far out to sea.

As the sun was coming up, and the other villagers were woken up by the shouts of battle, Grim and Meng looked at each other, and Grim said, “we’ve got a lot of work ahead of us to repair this town. The people of the town looked at them questioningly, and Meng and Grim explained.

The houses were rebuilt over the course of one day. The town hall was rebuilt over the course of two days. Grim used his might of the bear 🐻 to carry over platforms full of bricks.

Meng thief-proofed the town hall, but he mostly sat in the shade of a pine tree 🌲 and convinced other people of what they should do.

And that is the story of Grim The Human Barbarian, and Meng the human rogue, who saved Bryn Shander.
