Bruenor & Meng I: The Liberation Of The Mine
How did I free an entire mine from invading kobolds, you say? I'm not telling you! get out of here! why are you still here? I told you to leave! but, I suppose it would be fun to settle into my armchair by my nice, cozy fireplace, eh? just give me a minute. Ah, there we go. while I'm settlin' into my armchair, you should probably settle in too. there we go. well! it began long ago. over the spine of the world, into the frigid north of icewind dale. through ten villages, we trekked. these villages were called Ten-Towns. we walked through a blizzard... and before our eyes, a dwarven mine spread before us. I was travelin' with a human rogue, a guy named Meng Mei. he was my best friend. when he saw the mine, he said, "this is what your people can do?" and I said, "yup! we specialize in minin' and creatin' precious items. why don't we stop by and grab a few gems while we're at it, eh?" we walked down the hill. after grabbin' some minin' picks the kobolds had left about, we set to work. I got, oh, let's say one thousand five hundred platinum pieces worth out of the stone. meng, on the other hand, had to settle for a few gold pieces and a lot of copper. when we were minin', the kobolds must have been alerted. they charged into the room wieldin' clubs. I drew my mighty battleaxe, and meng drew his shadow rapier, the blade glowin' with spectral energy. we engaged in a fight. it had been a long time since I had fought kobolds. they were small and easy to defeat. but one of 'em must of alerted the king. he came scuttling in, wieldin' a club set with dark obsidian. we charged 'em. he slashed at us with his blade. I slashed at 'em with my battleaxe, while meng pierced his gold armour with his rapier. finally, I brought 'em down with a well-timed blow from my warhammer. the other kobolds cowered in fear as we drove them out into the arctic. they ran away, never to be seen again. we went back to town, and we got some gold! and I went home to my clan, hailed forever as Bruenor Battlehammer.
